Xinyi (Cindy) Wang is a third-year student at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where she is double majoring in mathematics-computer science and cognitive science. She interested in machine learning and neurocomputation and has done research on computer science and data science related fields at UCSD, where she uses a trained machine learning model to determine gene signatures for tuberculosis.

As an SCGB Undergraduate Research Fellow mentored by Assaf Ramot in the Komiyama Lab at UCSD, Cindy will be using cutting-edge methods to integrate patterns of connectivity and activity of the rodent primary motor cortex. During her fellowship, she hopes to learn more about neurobiology, the structure and connection of the brain as well as connecting neurobiology with computer science.
